The City of Mitcham, with a population of 61,000, is situated some 6kms from the City and extends into the beautiful Mitcham Hills, comprising an area of 75.7 square kilometres stretching from Cross Road to the north, to the Sturt River in the south; from Mount Barker Road in the east to South Road in the west.
Residents of Mitcham live in 32 suburbs all of which have their own particular style and community spirit. From the leafy backdrop of the Hills environment, to the foothills homes which share magnificent panoramic views of Adelaide and the plains, the variety and uniqueness of the area is obvious.

The City of Onkaparinga is the largest metropolitan council in South Australia and is growing rapidly.
The Council’s strategies centre on planning for the long term with regular input from its communities. Emphasis is placed on innovation, community engagement and sustainability.
A short distance from the Adelaide CBD, the City of Onkaparinga is both a liveable city and attractive to tourists. The area is rich in natural beauty with the picturesque scenery of hills (including part of Coromandel Valley), coastline and vineyards.
There are numerous walking trails, parks, reserves, beaches and wetlands throughout the area. Many of these recreational areas include playgrounds, seating and facilities such as barbecues, public art and play equipment.
The cultural life of the City of Onkaparinga is a vibrant reflection of its community’s talent, skill and industry. Galleries, cultural events, music festivals and local expertise in food and wine bring life and colour to the region.

Rotary Club of Coromandel Valley

Chartered on 2nd March 1992 as part of Rotary District 9520, the Rotary Club of Coromandel Valley is a young and active club with many exciting and ambitious projects helping both local and international communities.
In 2011 the Club’s general fundraising activities have included regular plant sales and 4WD guided Tag-a-long Tours to the southern Flinders Ranges. The Rotarians have also provide people-power for BBQs at local events, for Gamble Cottage and for the Blackwood Christmas Pageant and Fair.
The Club is actively supporting the Coro Alive! 175 celebrations in 2012. This includes the donation of 1,000 Coro Alive! 175 carry bags and helping the Coromandel Valley & District National Trust to publish a brochure and stage its Discovery Weekend next March.

This strongly community-oriented group is throwing its support behind Coro Alive! 175 with involvement at several events across the year. For the launch on 15 January, our local Lions coordinated the Commenorative Sailors Walk and cranked up the barbecue for a lunchtime sausage sizzle that seemed to run for most of the day.

The Coromandel Community Centre is a major provider of community activity and opportunity for people to participate in programs that entertain, encourage and support wellbeing within the community.
The Centre is available as a facility that people can use for meetings or as a venue for special celebrations occasions in a well equipped and comfortable setting.
The Coro Alive! 175 Coordinating Committee is a sub-committee of the Centre's Management Committee.
The staff and volunteers of the Centre provide significant support to the Coro Alive! 175 program, as well as organising a number events for 2012.

Coromandel and Districts National Trust
Gamble Cottagecnr Main and Dorham Road, Blackwood
The Coromandel Valley and Districts National Trust has a pivotal role in the Coro Alive! 175 celebrations. It will host a range of displays and activities in 2012 to inform locals and the wider community of Coromandel Valley's colourful history.
The Branch currently leases two buildings in the Mitcham Council area, being the Bakehouse on Winn's Road, Coromandel Valley and the Gamble Cottage on Dorham Road, Blackwood. Negotiations are currently underway with Onkaparinga Council regarding a lease over the former Watchman property at 360 Main Road, Coromandel Valley (just across the River Sturt from the Bake House).
The records of this National Trust Branch hold a wealth of information about the history of Coromandel Valley. The Branch continues to receive significant items and information into its care and its members are diligent in their efforts protect this historic collection.

The Friends of Blackwood Forest Recreation Park was formed in 2002 after sustained community efforts to save the former Blackwood Experimental Orchard from subdivision.
Today this small volunteer group is mainly concerned with the revegetation and maintenance of the Minno Creek precinct running through the park. The Friends operate under the guidance of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and with the support of grant monies obtained from various sources.

Known as Walking SA, the Walking Federation of South Australia is the peak body representing bushwalkers in South Australia, currently with 40 member clubs. It is also a body of individual members.
Walking SA works in conjunction with the Office for Recreation and Sport to promote walking as a healthy, life-long activity and to ensure that walkers have access to areas of high natural and scenic values.
The Walking SA office is a Resource Centre with books, maps and office facilities for members use.
Activities and projects currently coordinated by Walking SA include:
– Public walking events
– Liability and accident insurance for members
– Development and maintenance of walking tracks
– Monitoring road reserve closures
– Promotion of new walking opportunities
– Information resource centre

The Club currently fields four senior teams which cater for a range of cricketing abilities and backgrounds, from those with Grade cricket experience to those who are still learning the game.
Widely recognised as the "second oldest cricket club in South Australia", Coromandel has been a member of the Adelaide & Suburban Cricket Association (ASCA) since 1938/39.
The priority at Coromandel is to make cricket an enjoyable experience for all its members, so if you're keen to play cricket, or would just like to get involved socially, then don't hesitate to join them.

The CVCC is a venerable Club, having been formed on 10 March 1926.
The Club's history is very much tied to that of the Coromandel Valley community and you'll find more about the early years in the Features section of this website.
In 2011 for the first time in its history, the Club was given a purpose built Clubhouse (adjacent to Weymouth Oval): just in time for its 86th Anniversary celebrations!
The Club is no longer exclusively for the local community. These days it draws membership from a wide area, being the only croquet club situated between the foothills and the Southern Vales.
When they play
Golf Croquet: Monday and Thursday
Association Croquet: Tuesday and Saturday
Note that times of play (9.30am till 4pm) vary from summer to winter.
Members may use the facilities at times other than club days, including the evenings.
Gala Days are held for both Golf and Association Croquet.
CVCC participates in Saturday Pennants organised by Croquet SA, as well as singles and doubles Evening Pennants.
