If a respect for history could be tracked back to human genetic code, it would surely be found in Hugh Magarey’s DNA!

Eldest son of Rosemary Magarey, co-founder in 1964 of the Coromandel Valley Historical Society (now a branch of the National Trust), Hugh has had a lifetime involvement in our Valley’s history.

Hugh is a former Chair and long-time Committee Member of both our National Trust Branch and the Coromandel Valley Community Association, who is passionate about to sharing our Valley’s blessings with others.

A 4^th generation family member and partner in A.A.Magarey & Sons’ Fruit Orchard (founded in 1909), Hugh believes that 2012, Coromandel Valley’s 175^th year, provides a wonderful opportunity to further develop our interpretive history and amenities for the enjoyment of all.
