Our History
After extensive lobbying by families and established playgroups in the Coromandel Valley area for a community centre, negotiations commenced with the City of Happy Valley council to construct a building at the Weymouth Oval. The building was opened in 1991.
The first users of the Centre were Playgroups, Nursing Mothers and a group called LEGS (Ladies Evening Get-togethers).
The Centre became an incorporated body in 1997. With volunteers as office administrators, program co-ordinators and tutors, the Centre has been successful in obtaining grants from numerous sources including Local, State and Federal Government and agencies to run low cost, family friendly festivals, programs, and events regularly throughout the year.
In 2007 the Centre had an extension including an activity room and decking area overlooking the picturesque Weymouth Oval.
